Greyhounds as Pets, Rehoming and Contributions
Upon retirement from racing, Ebby Greys retains a number of our racing greyhounds as pets, as well as greyhounds that do not make the race track. Each greyhound is treated with respect and admiration, whether they have won the Australian Cup, or had no interest in racing.
Our current pets include Aussie, Spyro, Marley, Kawhi and Charlie.
Spyro (pictured below) did not race due to a foot deformity. He was operated on at 18 months of age, so he could lead a normal life as a pet. We had intended for him to be entered into the Greyhounds as Pet program, but to this day, Spyro is still with us.
We have rehomed a number of our greyhounds successfully through the Greyhounds as Pets program operated by GRNSW, and we also support Greyhound Rehoming, a rehoming group based at Manilla NSW https://www.greyhoundre-homing.com/.
In 2020, we had a major hand in organising the Wenty Park Greyt Ice Cream challenge, which raised approximately $4,000 for greyhound rehoming. Proudly, our greyhound AJ (racing name Ebby Infrared) ate his ice cream in record time to claim the Ice Cream trophy.
Animal welfare is at the forefront of everything we do. We consider it a privilege to spend each and every day with our racing greyhounds, and in turn, look for opportunities to put back where ever we can.

We also directly participate in industry fundraisers and other community programs from time to time – you can follow our work on Ebby Greys facebook page.
